The Apple iPhone

Capping literally years of speculation, perhaps the strongest followed unconfirmed product in Apple's history - and that is saying a lot - the iPhone was released today. Yes, we said: "The iPhone" name the entire free world had all but unanimously christened it when it was just a twinkle in Stevie J eye (comments, Cisco?). Sweet, glorious specific device 11.6 mm (that frickin 'thin, by the way) contains a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 touch-screen multi-touch support, and the proximity sensor turns off the monitor when it is close face, 2 megapixel cam, 4 GB or 8 GB of storage, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and A2DP, WiFi that automatically switches to the range, and EDGE Quad-band GSM. Perhaps the most surprising, however, in some ways runs on OS X supports widgets, Google Maps, and Safari and iTunes (of course) and Cover flow out of the gate.

The partnership with Yahoo allows all iPhone customers to connect to throw IMAP email. Apple cites five hours of battery life for talk or video, with a total of 16 hours in music mode - no information on the timeout again. In a twisted way, it's a rumor that we're almost sad to see paralyzed, after all, when is the next time we will have the opportunity to run this picture? The 4 GB iPhone out the door in the U.S. as a Cingular exclusive for $ 499 on a two-year contract, 8GB for $ 599. Ships Stateside in June, Europe in the fourth quarter, Asia in 2008.
